If your connection is lagging and producing errors, you might experience packet loss. Let us start with explaining how it works. Most information travels over the Internet in packets. Packet loss occurs when one or more of these packets of information fail to arrive at their destination. Online gaming, applications utilizing VoIP and video connections are highly susceptible to these problems. While transport protocols such as TCP/IP may help with the proper delivery of information, some others do not. When dealing with data, packet loss results in obvious errors. When it comes to audio communications, it may cause gaps in speech, audio mismatch and distortions of voices. A severe packet loss could result in manipulation of data, absence of signal or other performance issues. For some networks however, packet loss is a normal behaviour caused by a high volume of data being received by the router. > Read our blog and know how packet loss occurs |
