DSL
Small business operations that are in need of an ‘always on’ connection that won’t tie up their phone lines choose DSL as their access service to the Internet. DSL offers a permanent, reliable connection without the need to dial in to an ISP.
The main categories of Internet grade DSL are called ADSL2 and SDSL. Both forms of DSL allow you to download data at a prescribed downstream rate, and upload data at a prescribed upstream rate.
The most widespread DSL is ADSL2. The ‘A’ stands for asymmetric, meaning the downstream rate is faster than the upstream rate. SDSL is a ‘symmetric’ DSL and delivers identical upstream and downstream rates.
If your business requires you to download or receive a lot of data, then ADSL2 is the right choice. However, if you also upload or send a lot of data, SDSL might be a better option. Via IP is experienced in specifying your company’s profile in order to recommend the best Access Service for your business needs.
SDSL
Upgrade your broadband access using SHDSL (Symmetric High Speed Digital Subscriber Line). This Access Service of Via IP enables your business to transfer large amounts of data between offices and sites simultaneously and at a high speed.

Lets Get Technical
An ADSL (Includes ADSL1 & ADLS2+) Access service connects a Customer site to the Core Network using an Asymmetrical Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL) service. SDSL services connect a Customer’s site to the Core Network via a Symmetrical (same upload and download speeds), half duplex service.
These services can be provisioned at speeds ranging from 256Kbps/64Kbps through to 24Mbps/1Mbps although the maximum bandwidth available to the Customer is subject to distance from the exchange and copper line quality.
Multiple VLANs are NOT supported on a single ADSL/SDSL Access. Customer frames are transported over the Customer’s half duplex Telecommunications Line to the Access Network, which then delivers the traffic to the Core Network.
Contention on the last mile transmission service is not disclosed. Contention at the Via IP network Ingress point is based on Internet Grade (less than 100:1) and Office Grade (less than 20:1). Voice and Video traffic is supported only in conjunction with a Via IP managed Cisco router.
